Nigeria’s leading airline, Ibom Air, is projecting a revenue of N150 billion for the year 2025  a 56.25% increase from the N96 billion generated in 2024.

The Chief Executive Officer of the airline, Mr. George Uriesi, disclosed this during the Ibom Air Travel Agents Forum held on Friday in Lagos.

According to Uriesi, six percent of the airline’s 2024 revenue came from travel agents across Nigeria.

He stated that the airline is experiencing steady growth and is strategically positioning itself to transform the aviation industry in the country.

Uriesi also revealed that Ibom Air plans to join the General Distribution System (GDS) before the end of 2025.

He explained that joining the GDS would significantly boost the airline’s global visibility, allowing travel agents around the world to access its services and products.

Addressing issues of flight disruptions and cancellations, Uriesi said the airline had made the decision to reserve an aircraft on standby to manage such situations.

However, he admitted that the arrangement is not profitable for the airline.

Uriesi further noted that the company is working to improve its customer service delivery.

He added that Ibom Air has concluded plans to expand its operations to Malabo (Equatorial Guinea), Douala (Cameroon), and São Tomé and Príncipe, from its terminal in Uyo.

According to him, the Uyo terminal will serve as a hub once it is fully completed.

“We are about to expand all over Africa. Very soon, we will begin operations from our new terminal. We were deeply involved in its design.

“The terminal is built to support our strategy,” he said.

Uriesi also addressed some of the challenges faced by travel agents, including pricing concerns, online discounts, ticket costs, Paystack charges, and refund processes.

Members of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agents (NANTA), the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), and other key stakeholders were present at the forum.

Some travel agents received certificates of recognition for their engagements with the airline over the past six months.
