EFCC Declares Former Minister Timipre Sylva Wanted Over Alleged $14.8m Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and ex-Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, wanted over alleged conspiracy and dishonest conversion of $14,859,257.

The anti-graft agency made the announcement in a notice posted on its official X handle on Monday. According to EFCC, the funds in question were part of investments made by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) into Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for the construction of a refinery.

The notice stated that the warrant declaring Sylva wanted was issued by the Lagos State High Court on November 6, 2025.

Sylva, 61, hails from Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The EFCC urged members of the public with useful information about his whereabouts to contact any of its offices nationwide or reach the agency via 08093322644, info@efcc.gov.ng, or report to the nearest police station or security outfit.
