Nigerian Army Intensifies Multi-Domain Operations Against Asymmetric Threats
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian Army to a dynamic, intelligence-led and technology-enabled approach to tackling asymmetric threats to Nigeria’s national security.
Speaking during a strategic lecture to participants of National Defence College (NDC) Course 34, the COAS noted that modern security challenges have shifted from conventional warfare to complex intra-state conflicts driven by terrorists, insurgents, bandits, cybercriminals and transnational crime networks, requiring adaptive and collaborative responses.
He explained that in response, the Nigerian Army has recalibrated its operations through a comprehensive multi-domain strategy that blends decisive kinetic action with intelligence fusion, inter-agency cooperation and joint operations with sister services.
Across the North-East, North-West and North-Central regions, tailored operations continue to degrade terrorist and criminal networks, protect civilians and stabilise affected communities.
The COAS also emphasised the role of advanced technologies, improved training and whole-of-government partnerships in achieving lasting peace,
He however reassures Nigerians of the Army’s steadfast resolve to defend national sovereignty and secure lives, property and critical infrastructure nationwide.
