BPSR Commends NIMASA for Leading Role in Public Service Reforms

The Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) has applauded the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) for its exemplary efforts in driving public sector reforms, aligning with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking at a two-day sensitization workshop held in Lagos, the Director General of BPSR, Dr. Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi, praised NIMASA for embracing digital transformation and prioritizing transparency, efficiency, and service delivery through automation.

Delivering a keynote address titled “Overview of National Strategy for Public Service Reforms,” Dr. Arabi recognized NIMASA as one of the leading government agencies actively implementing innovative and transformative initiatives.

“NIMASA is setting a strong example of what it means to align with national reform goals,” he said. “Their adoption of automation is not just commendable—it is essential for modern, accountable governance.”

Dr. Arabi also emphasized the role of Reform Coordination Units within Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in institutionalizing change and aligning with the national reform strategy led by the BPSR.

He cited initiatives such as the Treasury Single Account (TSA), the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), and the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) as key drivers of transparency and accountability in public service.

“Our aim is to equip institutions with tools like the Self-Assessment Tool (SAT), and foster collaboration among stakeholders to enhance service delivery across the board,” he added.

NIMASA Director General, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, reiterated the Agency’s dedication to reform in his opening remarks, describing change as critical to both innovation and national progress.

“Reform is the pathway to innovation and national advancement. Without it, we risk stagnation,” he said. “As a forward-looking organization, NIMASA is committed to transformation in order to fulfill its mandate and better serve the Nigerian people.”

He encouraged NIMASA staff to adopt a proactive and open mindset, stressing that adaptability is key to building institutional resilience and sustaining long-term impact.

The workshop served as a platform to deepen reform awareness among NIMASA personnel and reinforce the Agency’s commitment to national objectives aimed at improving governance and driving sustainable economic growth.
