
Equity market gains N173bn
The domestic equity market on Monday opened on a bullish run, appreciating by N173 billion.
Market capitalization of listed equities appreciated by 0.25 per cent to close at N70.635 trillion from N70.462 trillion reported the previous day.
The NGX All Share Index also increased 273.94 points to 112015.95 points from 11742.01 recorded on Friday.
Though the market recorded more declines against advancers, the gains recorded in the shares of some medium and capitalised stocks lifted market activities.
As a result, year to date return went up to 8.84 points as 23 companies closed in green against 33 decliners.
An analysis of the investment showed that Multiverse led gainers table with a gain of 9.87 per cent to close N8.35 per share, Livestock Feeds followed with 9.57 per cent to close at N8.35 per unit, Lasaco Insurance added 8.11 per cent to close at N10.30 per share, Neimeth international Pharmaceutical gained 8.06 per cent to close at N3.35 per unit, Royal Express increased by 7.50 per cent to close at N0.86 per unit.
On the contrary, Legend International topped losers’ chart, dropping by 9.90 per cent to close at N5.55 per unit, NSLTech trailed with a loss of 9.84 per cent to close at N0.55 per share, Entranzact dipped by 9.56 per cent to close at N6.15 per share, UPL down by 9.56 per cent to close at N5.35 per unit, Mcnichols declined by 7.31 per unit.
Volume of trades declined by 1.382 billion, representing 72.74 per cent as investors traded 517.950 million shares valued at N10.070 billion in 15019 deals against 1.900 billion shares worth N64.145 billion exchanged hands in 18653 deals.
Transactions in the shares of Fidelity Bank led market activities t98.819 million shares valued at N1.877 billion, Royal Express followed with account of 58.445 million shares worth N50.241 million, Access Holdings company exchanged 55.165 million shares cost N1.206 billion, Cutix Plc traded 32.260 million shares worth N101.048 million while United Capital sold a total of 27.177 million shares cost N534.3.
