Ex Arsenal Midfielder Thomas Partey Pleads Not Guilty to Rape Charges
Former Arsenal star Thomas Partey has denied allegations of raping two women and sexually assaulting a third.
The Ghanaian international, now with Villarreal, pleaded not guilty at Southwark Crown Court to five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, relating to incidents alleged to have taken place between 2021 and 2022, during his Premier League career.
Partey, 32, left Arsenal in June at the end of his contract and signed for Villarreal shortly after. He was charged just four days after leaving the north London club.
Despite the ongoing case, Partey remains eligible to play. His bail conditions do not restrict him from featuring for Villarreal, though he must notify police of any international travel and avoid contact with the complainants.
On Tuesday, he returned to London with Villarreal for their Champions League clash against Tottenham Hotspur, coming off the bench in a match that ended 1-0 in favour of Spurs.
His trial is scheduled to begin on 2 November next year.
