NCC Addresses Service Disruptions Affecting Telecom Subscribers in Abuja

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has acknowledged the Quality of Service (QoS) challenges currently affecting telecommunications subscribers in Abuja.
In a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs, Mrs. Nnenna Ukoha, the Commission said it is engaging key stakeholders and licensees to resolve the disruptions.
According to the NCC, the challenges are largely linked to disruptions in diesel supply affecting IHS Nigeria Limited, the colocation provider responsible for powering Airtel and MTN base stations in the affected areas.
The Commission explained that the disruptions followed the activities of the National Oil and Gas Suppliers Association (NOGASA), which led to interruptions in diesel supply to critical telecom sites, resulting in service outages across Abuja.
Mrs. Ukoha said the NCC remains committed to ensuring seamless communication services for Nigerians and stressed the importance of reliable power supply in delivering optimal telecommunications services.
She added that the Commission is actively engaging relevant stakeholders to resolve the diesel supply challenges and explore sustainable, long-term solutions, urging all parties to collaborate in swiftly removing bottlenecks affecting critical telecommunications infrastructure.
Despite the challenges, the NCC reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a conducive environment for the growth and sustainability of the telecommunications sector in Nigeria, noting that proactive steps are being taken to facilitate dialogue among affected service providers and stakeholders.
The Commission assured the public that it is closely managing the situation and will continue to provide updates on progress toward the full restoration of telecommunications services in Abuja.
The NCC thanked subscribers for their understanding and patience and reaffirmed its dedication to delivering high-quality telecommunications services nationwide.
