NCC welcomes new board appointees, reaffirms commitment to digital economy growth

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has officially welcomed the recent appointments of Mr. Idris Olorunnimbe as Chairman-designate of its Board, alongside other newly named board members of the Commission and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF).

The appointments, approved by President Bola Tinubu, bring a fresh leadership team composed of individuals described by the Commission as highly experienced and capable.

The NCC in a statement noted that the new board members bring proven competence, extensive industry knowledge, and a solid track record of public and private sector achievements.

The statement  expressed confidence that the new leadership will provide strategic direction to further accelerate the growth and transformation of Nigeria’s digital economy.

“These distinguished professionals are expected to enhance the Commission’s regulatory efforts through strong governance, strategic insight, and deep sectoral expertise,” the statement said.

The NCC also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the appointments, stating that the Commission looks forward to working closely with the supervising Ministry and the new Board in advancing the goals of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the digital sector.

The incoming board is expected to play a critical role in shaping policy, strengthening regulatory frameworks, and ensuring continued innovation and investment in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving communications landscape.
