President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to ending insecurity in Nigeria, pledging to work tirelessly to address its root causes while promoting economic development, social cohesion, and inclusivity.

Tinubu stated this on Saturday during the Passing Out Parade of 1,187 cadets of Regular Course 7 of the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, Kano.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, the President said the ceremony marked not only the celebration of the cadets’ hard work and dedication but also a reaffirmation of the government’s determination to build a more secure and prosperous nation.

“I am impressed by the tremendous progress made by the Police Academy since its establishment. Its infrastructure and quality of training have improved significantly,” he said.

Tinubu noted that the Academy’s vision aligns with his administration’s agenda to build a new Nigeria Police Force rooted in honesty, dedicated service, integrity, public accountability, and professional conduct.

He assured that the government remains committed to ensuring that police officers are properly educated, adequately trained, and fully equipped to manage internal security challenges while upholding human rights.

“Our administration is committed to supporting the Nigeria Police Academy, the police, and other security agencies with the resources, training, and equipment they need to excel.

We will work tirelessly to address the root causes of insecurity and promote economic development, social cohesion, and inclusivity,” Tinubu said.

He urged the newly commissioned Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and respect for human rights.

“As you embark on this noble journey, remember that you are guardians of our collective security. Treat every citizen with respect and fairness, and uphold the rule of law,” he added.

The President also expressed gratitude to the families of the cadets for their sacrifice and unwavering support.

In his remarks, the Commandant of the Academy, AIG Patrick Adedeji-Atayero, said the institution was proud to present 1,187 well-trained officers who had completed degree programmes across various disciplines.

He urged the cadets to remain committed to discipline, integrity, and service, describing them as protectors of peace and defenders of justice.

Adedeji-Atayero commended President Tinubu, the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Usman Gaidam, and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for their support in strengthening the academy and advancing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.

“We remain committed to the Federal Government’s vision of a modernised and reformed police force. We will continue to produce officers who meet the demands of modern policing,” he said.

Dignitaries at the event included parents and families of the cadets, the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Governor Abba Yusuf, members of the National and State Assemblies, service chiefs, the Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, and the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, among others.
