The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), has received multiple industry recognitions for its consumer protection and fair competition efforts, earning nominations and awards from media organisations and industry stakeholders.

The recognitions include honours from Daily Independent, NaijaTimes, the Aisha Babangida Foundation and BrandXchange.

At a ceremony in Abuja on Thursday, NaijaTimes Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Ehi Braimah, presented the Institutional Integrity & Public Service Award to FCCPC Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Tunji Bello.

Braimah said the award recognised the commission’s contributions to consumer welfare, competitive markets and responsible business practices across Nigeria’s economy.

He was accompanied by NaijaTimes Editorial Board Chairman, James Akpadem, and Editor, Toby Prince.

Responding, Bello thanked the organisation for the recognition, saying it would encourage the commission to strengthen its commitment to consumer welfare and market integrity.

“We are encouraged that our work is attracting attention and recognition from different quarters. For us, what counts more is the difference we make in the lives of consumers and in the integrity of the marketplace,” Bello said.

He added that the recognitions would strengthen the commission’s resolve to promote fair competition and ensure consumers are treated justly.

The commission was also nominated for the Regulator of the Year 2026 award by Daily Independent, which commended its determination in pursuing its regulatory mandate.

Similarly, the Women Enterprise Alliance, under the auspices of the Aisha Babangida Foundation, shortlisted the FCCPC for the Regulatory Body of the Year award.

The foundation said the recognition was intended to celebrate the broader impact of effective regulation on enterprise confidence, market participation and sustainable economic development.

BrandXchange also named the commission Citizen-centric MDA of the Year (Federal) 2026, citing its service delivery, achievements and commitment to excellence.

The ceremony at the FCCPC corporate headquarters in Abuja was attended by the commission’s Executive Commissioner of Operations, Louis Odion; Executive Commissioner of Corporate Services, Ummusalma Isiaku Rabiu; and directors of the commission.
