Breaking News: Delta State Governor Oborevwori Defects to APC, Citing State’s Development
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The announcement came after a closed-door meeting held Wednesday evening at the Government House in Asaba.
Confirming the development, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, said the move followed “extensive consultations with political stakeholders” and was made in the interest of Delta State’s long-term growth and development.
Oborevwori, who secured victory in the 2023 gubernatorial election under the PDP, was warmly received into the APC by senior party leaders.
Political analysts view the defection as a major realignment that could influence the direction of the 2027 general elections.
