Fubara Reaffirms Loyalty to APC, Dismisses Defection Rumours

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that he remains a loyal member of the party despite growing speculation on social media about his political alignment.

Fubara made the clarification on Wednesday shortly after inspecting the reconstructed Rivers State Psychiatric Hospital, which has been remodelled into a general hospital located in Rumuigbo, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The governor dismissed reports suggesting he had distanced himself from the APC, describing such claims as false, misleading, and a product of social media misinterpretation.

“I’m a member of the All Progressives Congress and nothing has changed. People should stop using whatever situation they pick up from social media or their personal interpretation to present me wrongly. I have not gone anywhere. I remain a member of the APC,” he said.

His remarks come amid ongoing political conversations and online speculation over shifting alliances within Rivers State politics and his relationship with the ruling party.

Speaking during the inspection tour, Fubara explained that the decision to convert the psychiatric hospital into a general hospital was driven by the need to improve healthcare access for residents in the area.

According to him, earlier assessments revealed that communities around Rumuigbo lacked adequate medical facilities, forcing many residents to travel long distances to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital for treatment.

He noted that the facility’s distance from many communities made access difficult, prompting his administration to establish a more accessible healthcare centre for residents of Rumuigbo and surrounding areas.

The governor expressed satisfaction with the completion of the project, describing it as a fulfilled promise and a step toward strengthening healthcare delivery in the state.

Fubara added that his administration remains committed to people-focused development projects, particularly in expanding access to quality healthcare services across Rivers State.
